I think PLD to MTL is a done deal

Created by: jonh514
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2023
Published: Jun. 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm not sure what the deal is exactly, but the amount of PLD sightings with Habs leadership players is starting to feel like "getting to know your new team mates".

He was boating at the Grand Prix with Suzuki & Caufield (and Zegras & Subban)
He was at a CF Montreal game last night with David Savard

Anyone else starting to feel like a deal is done but they are saving the fireworks for the draft?

Wasn't he with MTL management at the last draft?

Sounds to me like it's a done deal in his head, but not necessarily in terms of trade. Or he might be trying to get the Canadiens management at whatever cost mainly $ value of his contract. Player endorsement for acquiring him, especially from Suzuki could go a long-way. We'll see in 6 days I guess.

I don’t think it’s a done deal, but with all the reporting that Dubois supposedly submitted a list of 5-6 teams he’d sign long term with… being very public taking pictures with a bunch of Habs players really makes you feel like this list of teams looks like this:

    1. Montréal
    2. Habs
    3. Canadiens
    4. Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge
    5. La Sainte-Flanelle

This might as well be the list because it sounds like he chose teams that would need to do some serious cap gymnastics if it's true that tge Rangers and Wild are on the list.

Yeah it really feels like he chose those teams on purpose. Even LA doesnt seem very realistic, they sent a 2nd pick to Philly last week to clear cap space for Gavrikov. Theyd have to be really creative if they want to land PLD extended without sacrificing too much, which I dont think is worth it for an up and coming team like the Kings who are set at the center position.

I know one thing: the Montreal Canadiens organization leaves NOTHING to chance. Everything is planned, no lose ends. Even in the summer, any and all player public appearance is managed by the team. So you could imagine that their is purpose behind all those Habs vs Dubois pictures/videos...

Just saw that MTL is trying to give Hoffman for free, so it sounds like it could be a done deal. Guessing Dvorak is the roster player going back in a Dubois trade.

Well ... Hoffman & Armia need to move on. One more year is fine I guess either way.

Yeah, I mean Hoffman isn't a 4.5M player, so moving off him makes sense. Maybe they just don't want to pay his 5M salary and are hoping some team takes him before they use up their cap space/hit the floor. I just couldn't help but notice that moving him and Dvo would clear enough cap space for Dubois (assuming he isn't getting more than 8.2M) and a cheap replacement player.

Armia probably only gets moved at the TDL if he has any value but I don't think his contract gets in the way of anything.

I think Ylonen won't get resigned because of Armia.
