I never thought he was a bust tbf. I’m actually very high on him, and in a vaccum, or just with NY in a slightly better cap situation, I would absolutely give up more. Him and Jack Hughes (ironically) could be a dominant pair on a line.

Just can’t justify it here when those assets are going to be used to get out of the Goodrow contract, and get through this year before the cap increases

A goodrow buy-out doesn’t affect the cap next year and the following year. It hurts 3 years down the road and by then Panarin and Trouba will be near the end of their contracts, on top of the cap suppose to be going up a lot more

Plus I think the rangers would value their only top 6 RW over a lot of other positions on the roster

I meant more of taking the trade angle for Goodrow and pairing him with picks+ or whatever it would take to avoid the buyout route entirely.

The rangers at the very least SHOULD value KK that way. It’s hard to predict a front office that James Dolan is influencing though. Couple years ago when he was focusing more on ruining the Knicks, and I would have a lot more faith in their value assessments lol

I definitely agree. Dolan is probably the main reason why they sped up the rebuild instead of taking the correct course like the devils did

Okay? Not really seeing a point being made there other than you don’t like New Jersey lol
Like I said above, I value KK in a vacuum much higher than this

Who cares how you value him to be honest? The trade offer you posted is absurd and really intended to start an argument, so fine, lets have an absurd argument since that is what you are looking for.

McLeod is more a waiver claim candidate then a tradeable asset. Especially not a high third round pick. McLeod is not a upgrade over any current players on Habs roster that have to many NHl contract already.

He'd play PK1, better and cheaper than dvorak, and put up a higher 5v5 point rate than kirby dach. Among the 11 habs forwards who had at least 500 minutes 5v5, ONLY Caufield and Suzuki scored more than Mcleods 1.66 P/60

The ignorance is astounding.

(Habs fans)

Among guys with 500 minutes 5v5, only suzuki and caufield put up more 5v5 P/60 than mcleod (1.66). Yes that includes elite josh anderson and elite kirby dach. Mcleod is also way better defensively

You’ve said the word absurd a few times, but so far I’m the only one who has contributed any justification.

There is no justification for your absurdity, but think what you want.

If you need that explained to you, your hockey knowledge is zero. Sorry, can't help you, learn the game first then come back to me.

Is Ad Hominem all you are going to bring to the table? I’m happy to hear actual rebutes to my points on the rangers deal, but it’s just ironic that someone is talking about not having any hockey knowledge, while getting out of hockey talks by deflecting with fallacies

It’s just funny how devil fans have been calling Kakko a bust and here we are trading for him

But they’ll be fine and have no trouble re-signing Kakko after next year lol

A player can be a bust, but still have some value. Yes, he is a bust. He has not lived up to 2OA. He is still a respectable player if you ignore his draft pedigree

Then I guess Thompson was a bust prior to breaking out? Lol

I mean yeah. Unless Kakko has some spectacularly rare breakout like Thompson, then yes he is a bust. Thompson breakout is an anomaly. Basically a miracle that hardly ever happens. He was also not a 2nd overall either so expectations were lower to begin with.

Some players are known to be late breakouts. The problem is that everyone expects these top 5 picks to come into the league and put up crosby, Mcdavid, matthews numbers lol

After 4 years, you'd like to see them at least be a top 6 forward. Kakko is still a solid player at this point. Very good 3rd liner.

Kreider Mika Kakko 1st line was among the best in the league lol Gallant was too stubborn to keep them together

And thats definitely unfortunate, but it shows Kakko is not a playdriver. He plays well with good linemates, but doesn't generate much for himself
