Description

I am kind of speechless. Toffoli was a guy I thought made sense at the TDL last year and now Fitzgerald managed to aquire him for a player that was scratched during the playoffs and a 3rd. The fact that the Flames paid more to quire him a season and a half ago is insane, especially considering this was his best season by far. I’m not sure if this the Devils will look to extend him but regardless, this is just another common Fitz masterclass™. Flames fans I hope you like Sharangovich, he is honestly a class act… and his wife Dasha is a smoke show.

There is 1 hole in this lineup and 1 area that the team can still improve (assuming all RFAs are signed) the hole is a #6/#7 D improvement can be made in goal. While we have Smith and he is a perfectly fine 7D, there is a lot of risk in our defense and not a lot insulation. They would be 1 or 2 injuries away from playing Nemec and Luke on the PK. Finding a #6D (preferably a righty) that can kill penalties should be a priority.

In net Vitek and Schmid are serviceable for sure and I fully expect them to go with this tandem into next year, however there are goalies out there that are definitely an upgrade on both.

Lastly this team also needs a 3rd string goalie. With Daws out long term with injury, there is no one to cover for an injury to Schmid or VV (or in this case Sorokin)

To a goalie 1 year away from UFA. Your high if you think he’d return more than this.

Agree with Pretz. Goalies normally are either not available or traded for smaller packages if available.

If I am pushing my chips in on a goalie, it would be on a younger player with promise. Knight, Wolf, etc. Otherwise, keep the stable full and play the hottest one.
