It seems unlikely that the Senators will get a reasonable return for Debrincat. This might force them to sign him to a 1 year contract in order to kick the can down the road until the trade deadline, where prices might be better. Not to mention, a lot can change in a year. The big problem with keeping Debrincat is that it will not leave sufficient cap space to sign or trade for a starting goalie.
Logan Thompson is not a proven starter, but he has shown he can play 30+ games a year and deliver. There is upside for him to be a 1A or 1B goalie. He is on a very good contract cap wise.
Ottawa gives up two future 2nds (or one future 2nd and an equivalent prospect) and the rights to Alex Formenton. Alex Formenton is unlikely to be signed and almost certainly has little value. He's more of a throw in.
