No Trades Just Picks

Created by: IDKtbh
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 28, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Here is the scenario I envision for tonight’s draft without predicting any trades for our five 1st/2nd round picks.

Best Case Scenario (realistic but highly optimistic)
#9 C/ Ryan Leonard
#17 RHD/ Tom Willander
#41 G/ Michael Hrabal
#42 C/ Anton Wahlberg
#43 RW/ Kasper Halttunen

If Ryan Leonard isn’t there at #9, which there’s a good chance he won’t be, I would love to trade down with someone like Nashville or even Chicago and get an extra 1st or a couple extra 2nd rounders. Willander may be gone as well at #17 and in that case I’d like to take the best C available or perhaps move back again.

I know it’s not the point of your post, but why does every wings fan sleep on Walman? Guy was so good this past season and no reason his game can’t stay the same for at least 5 more years

Mølgaard 41

Would love Mølgaard but have to believe he’ll be gone at that point. Am a fan of everyone in this post as well but do think it’s a touch ambitious and also that Yzerman’s will go way off the board with at least one of those seconds if he makes all the picks

And you don't think Leonard/Willander will be picked before 9/17?
I think him being available at 41 is more likely than either of those guys falling lol.

Yes. All possible, but so is the chance I become an astronaut.

I think he’s a fun player and dynamic at times but what I have here in these lineups is like a long term sort of projection of the roster.

More specifically due to the LHD prospects coming up in the next 3-4 years would be more impactful to Walman remaining with the team beyond the conclusion of his current contract moreso than his level of play.

Yeah I really like it as a long term projection! I guess I’m just pointing out that I think Walman either beats one of those LD out or it ends up we run 4 lhd and 2 right. At least riding with the fact that he continues playing well with Seider and they have good chemistry, I think it will make sense that we keep him around
