Only way it makes sense is if he comes in around but preferably UNDER what Kampf just signed for.

Kampf is by far the more important of the 2 players. Kerfoot is quick and good defensively though. I would happily sign him to a 4 year x 2m a year. Definitely not a 4 x 4.

I think Kerfoot will get more than what the Leafs should pay for him on the open market.

If it costs more than a $1 for Alex Kerfoot, it's an overpay. You don't win with guys like these in the league

Nah. He is super fast, good defensively and super hard working. He has a very high compete level.

He just isn't physical and his offense dropped off massively. He is a very solid bottom 6 guy. So as long as we pay him as a bottom 6 guy and not a middle 6 guy, I would be happy.

Kerfoot at 2m is fine. Kerfoot at 3m+ doesn't make sense for the Leafs.

While you're at it, you can bring back Justin Holl, Pierre Engvall, keep Murray while Boston re-signs Bertuzzi

Engvall was a solid player, I valued him more than Kerfoot. I thought we traded the wrong guy at the time. Murray is a good goalie but injured way too often to be reliable and for that cap, so I hope he is moved today. Holl is a decent dman, I think he has priced himself out of Toronto and I don't think he is what the Leafs need in the DCorp right now.

I also hope we sign Bert. I think he would be a perfect addition to our top 6. BUT I have a suspicion that Bert will not sign in Canada after the Covid/Vax Passport situation. Who knows though.

And for the record, I think the Leafs should move on from Kerfoot also BUT I wouldn't cry if we got him signed at 2m a year. But any more than 2.4m a year and I would not be please at all.

Why are you so content with committing to the same group of players that have continued to fail when the core needs their production the most? I'd literally rather go into next season with Holmberg and McMann instead of Kerfoot and Kampf. Use that money to sign a different group of guys in that bottom six.

We better not run back the same group. Of our UFAS I wanted the following back in order or priority:

1. ROR (only at a reasonable extension)
2. Kampf
3. Schenn
4. Acciari

That's it. I wouldn't be mad with ZAR either at a very low cap hit. Under 950k a year.

Now if Kerfoot resigned for below market value (which 2m would be). I would be okay with it, because he fills role and it would leave us enough money to get a Bertuzzi and/or Barbashev type.

I think we need to get 1 D upgrade (while keeping Schenn). I also think we need to get bigger/more physical in our top 6. While keeping size, speed and defensive ability in our bottom 6.

I have made enough AGMS this year and not one has kept Kerfoot or Holl. But almost all of them I bring back Kampf because I really like what he brought.
