Doubtful that O’Reilly accepts that contract. He’s notorious for not doing discounts. If anything he’s probably trying to force out a long term contract with at least 5 by 4.5 or something similar but worse

I like Kampf I should rephrase, was just showing they can still have a good roster while paying Kampf 2.4. Ideally Kampf plays a beefed up 4C role high pk mins and some extra d zone face offs mixed in.

You would rather have Kampf as 3c than Drouin 💀

the kampf signing says to me that o rielly is gone. kampf is a good third line center that needs decent players with him to produce. he got 2.4m so he will need to produce pts. i dont think he"ll be stuck in that 4th line role anymore. esp not with a faceoff expert and pk guy in glendenning that fits perfectly on the 4th line

Then so be it, he’s 33 can’t do more than that. I think that’s a respectable offer to play on a contender close to home. If he doesn’t then they’ll have to look around the league for someone trying to shed salary. Seems to be a lot of cheap trade deals out there. (Johansen, Rielly smith etc)

Yeah play them the same amount of mins, want someone with offence to not stifle Knies ability to finish.

I would say the Kampf and Holmberg signings suggest that they expect O'Reilly to test FA, but if he's willing to sign for less (I'm guessing 4M or so, maybe less if they are willing to offer 7 years) that there's a slim chance that he's brought back. Of course, Matthews and Nylander extensions, and a top 4 D are higher on their priority list so there's going to have to be enough money left to do those things.
