Yeah there are some decent looking pieces, nice to see ASP picked considering he isn't a normal Yzerman guy. Still need those goal scorers, and I am hoping Buchy can give some of that.

Do you think we drafted enough defensemen today?

When they took Brady I was a little confused due to Buium being that "perceived" 5-6-7 big guy.

Then Keenan.... hmmm yet another good size LHD. Interesting choice.

Then Phelan.... at least he is a RHD, but ASP and Gibson were already taken this draft lol

It seems like he is dead set on building the D first and continuing to do so until its perfect lol.

Yeah, I woulda thought we wouldn’t be drafting a LHD for next 3 years tbh lol. Like, okay draft is some RHD and hope 1-2 sticks but, what are we really going to do with all of these LHD now. We have like 15 as of now. I would have thought we woulda went IN on centers in this draft but no, we drafted more LHD than centers…..

It's a good problem to have in the future. Yzerman is also thinking about the value of these picks - Big defenseman are more valuable in trades than small wingers.

And that is fair, too much of a good thing is never a bad thing. The only issue I have with that is it has to move to the next chapter at some point. Future value of picks is where Detroit currently lives. I mapped out in the depth chart where I view things (with a little wishful thinking *Buchelnikov*). I do feel like I get where he is going with the rebuild...

He locked Larkin up (through the wringer), so his captain and number 1 (hopefully 2C) are set. He brought in Kasper and Danielson and "safe" picks but with some upside. Two guys that play 200ft games and can overachieve (a Detroit staple throughout their entire history). So now, the 1-2-3 centers are interchangeable hopefully and all three can perform. None are superstars, maybe even (stars), but great players.

He is focusing on back end out. Seider, Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson (x2), ASP, Gibson..... He is crafting what he thinks will be the optimal D with size, speed, blah blah you know. While most fans think he is nuts, look how calm he is always. He knows he has the trust and time to Burger King this Bit*h. (Get it... Have it YOUR WAY). Also, please no more LHD.

*I am still pissed right now that he took more defensemen in this draft than LHD traded to Detroit on this site since the TDL.*

Not sure if this was supposed to be a depth chart ranking, but I would rank Kasper higher than Danielson.

Just a little swapping back and forth done on instinct. I’m trying to justify the pick and project to what they think his ceiling may be. First reaction was a pause, followed by rationalizing.
