Anaheim getting a young unproven prospect a very cheap goalie option and a very solid 24 year old dman who is also unproven plus a pick. John Gibson doesn’t deserve the Anaheim torture. There are only certain teams that can offer so much and Toronto is one of them. Others include Pittsburgh and honestly Carolina. Maybe even la despite having only like $4.5 right now. (They would have to figure that out)

Anaheims getting a few low quality assets and Samsonovs signing rights, but also using a retention spot for four seasons and eating $4m. So basically tack an extra million onto Sammy's contract whatever it is.

If that is all Gibson is worth, he can stay in sunny Southern California wearing eggplant and jade.

On top of all that, he VERY publicly spurned Toronto last off-season.
