Toronto doesn't make the first deal so second one doesn't happen.

Seems like a Rational deal to me, you can't have your cake and eat it too with Nylander. something has to be sacrificed

Of course it seems rational to you, you're getting Nylander without giving up anything of value.

The isles are facilitating a trade for a 100 point RHD TOP PAIR DMAN that the TOR desperately needs

Won't be a flat cap when his new extension kicks in. Seems to be a point everyone wants to ignore to justify saying Toronto is screwed with the cap.

You actually think toronto issues will be solved when the cap rises , I have something to tell you buddy, the excess cap is going to go to Mathews, Nylander and Marner how are you going to improve the rest of your team because a 2 round gentlemens sweep is not going to cut it in Toronto

Yup, Matthews and Nylander will eat up a good chunk of the excess cap. Mitch's new contract kicks in the year JT's 11M is either off the books or cut significantly.

I'm not even ruling out Toronto moving on from Nylander. It just won't be for this kind of package because you "think" you've got Toronto by the short hairs.

Islanders make out like bandits here. Don't give up anything of value and get the best player in the deal

Why would the leafs have to trade nylander and a first for karlsson? We have all seen the deals this past week, extremely hard to move money unless it’s a young top player (PLD). Karlsson just won the Norris yes but still
Talking about a huge contract for a 33 year old for 4 more years.
Smith, johansen, hayes, hall all got little to no return. 2 with 50% retention. Karlsson is worth more yes but I would say a first and a nice prospect or two with karlsson retained so he makes around 8 is realistic for what the sharks can get. And as a team rebuilding for a few years yet they should be happy to take that
Karlsson has an injury this year and he probably can’t be moved again.

Trade nylander for two cheaper players that can contribute. Or potentially for Lindholm straight up. Spend a couple young assets to get karlsson instead of nylander and a first.
