If you read what I wrote I said we sign Wheeler for less just the tool on CF wouldnt let me to retain more than 50%.

Grier said they would retain salary. They would have to in order for someone to take him. Maybe not 50% but somewhere between 20-35% is fair depending on the return. Nobody is taking Karlsson with the 11.5 mil cap hit and he does not want to play there so why keep him.

Salaries work on D for long term as well providing the Leafs can swing those trades with pieces they have.
