One Last Miller Proposal

Created by: SammyB
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2023
Published: Jun. 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Boston is reportedly operating "under the assumption" that Bergeron and Krejci won't be returning. In that case, maybe they try to buy low on a point-per-game top six centre?

Carlo and Greczlyk are likely gone to clear cap for a forward anyways, this accomplishes that in one move. Lysell has more potential than Hoglander but is unproven, while Hog gives the Bruins a good bottom six winger for another cup run, and he still has middle six upside.

The overall value lines up IMO but I'm sure some will disagree. Let me know what you think! Pat Allvin if you're reading this, you have less than eight hours to get this done, get on the phone!

Boston doesn’t want miller lol, when will canucks fans understand that.

We aren’t giving up our top prospect for him and we sure as hell aren’t giving up a 25yr old top 4 RHD for him.

Moving lysell and Carlo for miller doesn’t improve our team it sets us back a couple years

Ok, so you don't want Miller, and you're not trading Lysell, that's completely fair. How does trading from a position of strength (RD) for the better player at a position of need (C) "set you back a couple years"? That's a genuine question.

Because Carlo is 25 and on a cheap team friendly deal, his contract of 4.1 mill will age very nicely in the next few season when the cap goes up close to 10 mill.

Miller on the other hand is what 30-31 and not on the greatest contract due to the term.

Bruins most likely are about to be retooling real quick here and paying vets on the wrong side of 30 big money long term won’t help us, I don’t want to be Calgary and be stuck in mediocrity with a bunch of bad contracts

Fair enough, I just don't think being stuck in mediocrity is really that much of a worry for a team that just won 65 games. The window is wide open right now. There will be one big, gaping hole in your roster this season if Bergy doesn't come back. Is there a player that fills that need better than Miller who's available?

I agree with the above poster. Carlo is young and on a team friendly deal. Take Forbort instead.
