Nelson has a 16 Team No Trade List which would instantly kill this trade imo. Also if the isles want to add DeBrincat, it won’t come at the expense of Nelson plus additional assets imo.

He is 25 year old sniper with two 40 goal seasons already and he hasn’t hit his prime. Such players aren’t on the market everyday and we’re gonna have to give up something of value especially since we don’t have the prospect pool to compete with other teams. The team gets a lot younger with this trade.

Never said you didn’t have to give up something of value. I’m saying that trading Nelson to add DeBrincat basically closes your window anyway. Also Nelson has a M-NTC and is coming off a better season than Cat had in Ottawa. Not saying he’s better, but this just doesn’t make sense for the Isles imo.

Also I didn’t even notice you added Wahlstrom. Wahlstrom and those picks are probably enough anyway lol.

Nelson has a M-NTC with 16 teams on it and he’s from Minnesota. I’m not trying to hate on Ottawa here, but I’d be floored if they aren’t on his list lmao.

Sorry but i seriously doubt that DeBrincat is signing in high tax New York State. He either want hometown Detroit or States with 0 State income tax.

He’s a lot younger than Nelson and we lock him up long for long term and finally give barzal the sniper he needs while still having solid center depth down the middle.

While taxes often play a role in where a player signs it is not the only factor to take into consideration. Players also decide based on ability to win, quality of life, marketing opportunities, and other things like that. Has Debrincat made any sort of statements that he’s looking to go to a low tax area? I don’t follow Ottawa closely.

No he hasn’t. This is the same as Habs fans saying Dubois would be in a Montreal jersey by next season.

Again Nelson has a M-NTC. Also ur overvaluing Cat by a significant amount imo. Not saying I don’t want him. I’m saying u don’t have to give up that much based on the Meier deal lol

I’m just assuming Ottawa isn’t on it. If so then there’s no deal. I’m really looking for feedback value wise and I concede I did overpay here based on past deals. What would you give up for cat?

By the time they contend Nelson will be at the end of his career, OTT needs young players

They had a good run at the end of the year and I know a lot of people thought they would make the jump last year. They also have the assets to upgrade the goaltending.
