No. If anything maybe a minor league goalie as Schmid was staying in the NHL.

One, that's very different that last year's deadline. Two, it's been said Fitz is ready to run with what we have, it's the media using hot take guessing that bc it seemed our goaltending let us down in the playoffs (it was the team crapping the bed around Schmid, and then VV being complete garbage, mixed in with Hughes getting hurt and playing through it).

All this talk about big costs for a goalie (who would have to be great...Jarry isnt) after a year where a third string goalie formerly of one of the worst teams gets hot and takes his team to the cup....

Schmid will be fine, people ignore that he brought the Devils back vs the Rangers and he still finished with great stats overall for his ROOKIE season in the playoffs.

You shouldn't put all your eggs in the rookie G basket. Will the sophomore season turn out more like Otter's, or more like Hart's? There is so much variance with young G, especially after there is more tape on them. VV is probably an ok G to pair for the season, but you might want to upgrade before the playoffs if Schmid doesn't run with it all season long.
