I have a difficult time believing that Anaheim is actually in on Debrincat. He is the anthesis of a Verbeek style player.

I see your point, however of the rumoured teams I can only see ducks and Nashville. Islanders isn’t cats style and stars don’t have cap room. Then it comes down to assets, do u want a player that will play 3rd line and be ok like tomasino . or get a guy like Perrault who struggled last year but is a pure sniper and can become the replacement for tarasenko also the draft picks from Anaheim would be higher

I can understand why it makes sense from the Senators side, I'm staying why it doesn't from the Ducks side. Literally since Verbeek took the GM's seat, every guy he has acquired for the team (trades, drafting, and UFA signing) has been 6'0" + other that Dominik Simon (cap dump), Andrew Aggozino (AHL player), Dylan Sikura (AHL player), and Frank Vatrano, who is at least built like a truck for his 5'10" height.

There's a theme here that Debrincat flies in the face of at 5'7" and being easy to play against/knock off the puck. Furthermore, we don't get the tryout year with him, it's straight into a huge salary demand after a very bad year. It seems clear that Cat only succeeds when he isn't the biggest threat on the ice, he can't slip into a weak spot unless the other team is focused on someone else they are worried about getting burned by (i.e. Kane).

What if Anaheim is in the mix because they are part of a potential three-way trade with Ottawa/NYI? Anaheim gets Oliver Wahlstrom and retains some salary for a player going to Ottawa (via NYI), DeBrincat goes to NYI. Ottawa gets a 1st and a cap-reduced player from NYI.

That would be the best way for us to be in on a DeBrincat trade imo!!

Guy will cost to much to acquire and to much to resign
