Description
ARI: Buffalo and Arizona have pieces eachother could use. With OEL, Chychrun, and Hjalmrsson (or however his name is spelled) as top-4 LHD for Arizona, they could afford to move Goligoski as long as he would waive his NMC. They do lack RHD on their roster which is why I think Bogosian could work for them. He is a puck moving dman with size and a physical edge Arizonas guys don't really have much of. Robin Lehner is of question here in Buffalo for whatever reason and I think he could be a solid young goalie for Arizona to grow with the roster. They have guys like Domingue, Raanta, and Johnson in their depth but none of those guys have the upside Lehner does who also has a couple seasons as a starter under his belt. They also get Moulson, who overpaid for his age, is a solid pp specialist who could help a team who had a bottom-10 PP last year. Buffalo acquires a top-4 puckmoving LHD they need in Goligoski to play the big minutes with Ristolainen. I think he would waive his NMC to come here as we are a Up and coming team, have a great defense coach in Housley who could really help his skill set, and gets a great D partner in Ristolainen. Buffalo also picks up Reider who is a solid offensive contributor who for some reason seems overlooked in Arizona and McGinn comes back as a solid two-way veteran to help the young team transition and helps with salary for Arizona.

Steve Mason signs on a two-year "prove it" deal in a weak goalie market to try to bounce back after a rough 16/17 season. Helps bridge our goalie pipeline until Ullmark is hopefully ready for starting reigns. Enroth signs on a PTO to push Ullmark to see if he is ready for NHL backup position. Whoever loses this "battle" starts in ROCH with Johansson as the backup

Jack Eichel signs a 6 year, $42 million contract this offseason (similar to Kane and Toews deals after ELC.) Kane and Reinhart start the season without a deal to see how they play in new system under Housley. Anticipating Reinhart deal around 3 yr, $12 million contract and Kane deal around a 4 yr, $25 million contract

C: Brian Gionta (Eichel takes it in 18/19 season)
A: Ryan Oreilly
A: Rasmus Ristolainen/ Alex Goligoski

Zona traded for Raanta, he was 100% brought in to be their starter and not much older than Lehner. Lehner is not going to be attractive to them. Bogo and Moulson are cap dumps and that 3rd obviously isnt covering the spread (the trade starts off one sided for Buffalo as it is). Also you ay as well give Eichel the C now. The locker room fell apart under Gionta and he is not worth bringing back to play forth line minutes again. Id rather they watch Fasching, worst case scenario, flounder than resign Gionta. Enroth and McGinn arent worth bringing back either. Just because they played here before doesnt mean the sabres need to reacquire them.

I just don't see Raanta having as much upside for a starter as others do I guess. Lehner is more of a proven commodity at this point. Bogosian is still a solid guy but I agree his stock is down, but Goligoski was a top guy on a struggling Arizona roster this year and his contract is rather hefty so I think could even out more then you think. Moulson for McGinn is a bit of wash as well for me as yes McGinn is cheaper, but Moulson has more offensive upside especially on PP. I would be ok with Gionta not getting the C back and Eichel taking it, but Gionta is nice veteran offense for cheap. Enroth can be any goalie willing to take a PTO
