Why would you give away Brodie then proceed to trade more picks for a worse defencmen in Zadorov and take a 1st for Larsson who's hardly an improvement on Brodie?

They both are 1.3-1.8 mill cheaper than Brodie and allow Reaves and Bertuzzi to go wild without getting punished that hard. It's like what Dangle says, "You can't suspend us all". It also makes Toronto harder physically to play against

Fair, but there are also guys in the minors whom are waiver free like Minten who can be called up in case of LTIR and in the playoffs

LTIR requires you’re out for like a month; what if someone needs to sit for a week or two ? Ora few guys get sick (flu)?
