So SJS has to deal with Risto....who alone doesn't live up to his 4yr contract while eating $4m of the Karlsson deal? SJS would be better off with all expiring contracts and picks and just realize their time is 4-5 years ATLEAST if they are lucky on picks.

What's the pitch for smith? Sharks are already overloaded at LD and would likely be looking for a different position. Honestly none of the prospects in the Pens system really wow me, but I admit I'm not very familiar with them.

I wouldn't sell Risto as a young stop gap....if you aols it as "They take all the picks and get an excuse to be trash with Risto" makes sense....but no one deserves four years or Risto.

This is an awful deal for the Sharks' end. No first-round picks and we get saddled with Granlund's bad contract and one of the worst pylons in the league in Ristolainen WITHOUT either Pitt or Philly retaining for their salaries. And this is with us retaining salary for EK65? Ha! Yeah, this would lead me to block Dubas' and Briere's numbers if I was Mike.
