Description
Leaf's are 8 million over the cap, here are some options

Trading Murray means getting rid of a first, I don't think brad is willing to do that. the amount of firsts we trade away is nuts.

that being said you'd probably have to buy him out. then trade Lafferty and brodie to any team, doesn't have to be Seattle or sharks.

you bring up Holmberg, McMann and steeves up because there NHL ready. great for the bottom 6. is it better then last year probably not, but I think it can be just as good.

Give Sammy a 2 year deal 3 million, I wouldn't give him long-term just yet. I don't really trust him and there's no point when you have rising goaltender woll, he could be your starter very soon!

Celab jones could be a great bottom pair guy with Timmins imo. then you have 1.9 million in cap, save it for the deadline!

Apparently we have Dylan gambrell, I guess leafs signed him

Isn't the buyout window over? I thought anyone being bought out had to be on waivers as of last Friday.

There's a second for those with arbitration cases. I'm wondering if it's enough to just file for arbitration or do they have to go through with it (not sure)...I'm not sure they want an arbitrator dictating his AAV.

I don't think Brodie is a player Seattle would be interested in, and I think considering Toronto's cap situation, the value Leafs would get in return would be considerably lessened.

Ilya Samsonov would have to file for arbitration by Wednesday's end of business. That would open the door for a second buyout window if Samsonov then settled with Toronto or got an award, but not if he were traded while his contract was still open. I'm sure that Brad Treliving is well aware of these fine points.

I said he doesn't have to go to seattle, brodie is still worth a lot. maybe not 2 picks but he can definitely get a second out of him.

Yes, I read your description about Brodie to any team, but as you made a point of scrolling down and selecting Seattle for the trade, one assumes you thought there might be a fit. I thought I'd make a point of saying there likely isn't.

This league is real opposed to doing anyone any favors, especially Toronto it seems. Knowing how solid a defensive d-man Brodie is, it is obvious Toronto is only trading him out of "cap-desperation." If Brodie fetches a 2nd rounder, good on them, but I feel other cap-clearing moves made by other teams this off-season are the standard.

Blows my mind how Toronto is going to move forward seemingly committed to the same 4-5 guys. This is not a better team and that defense is suspect to say the least.
