rest of offseason

Description
One or more of Blackwell, R. Johnson, or Entwistle will have to go during the offseason. They're talented players, but we have way too many bottom 6 players currently and in the system

Personally, I say take a flyer of Zadina since he'll be signed for 2 seasons and if it doesn't work out just don't qualify him after the 2 seasons or place him on waivers. He was playing 4th line on Detroit too, give him some minutes and see how he does.

Casey Fitzgerald is a two way contract to provide some depth. Doesn't have to be him, but I say might be worth signing a RD.

Kevin Korchinski will play for the first part of the season before the World Juniors and then after the world juniors he'll come back or join a contender in the WHL, similar to what Dylan Guenther did this season. Keep Zaitsev in the AHL or rotate him in and out with Tinordi.

Cole Guttman got shoulder surgery, so he can start of in the AHL, recover, and then come back to the NHL. ESPN report stated he's suppose to be out of hockey activities for 4 months back in March, so he could rejoin the NHL roster on opening day, but we'll see.

Players to potentially be moved at TDL (depending on how their season goes):
-Taylor Raddysh (RW) - making below league min and was a 20 goal scorer last season
-Taylor Hall (LW) - retain 1/2 his salary for a contender after having a strong season playing with Bedard
- Jason Dickenson (C) - with 1/2 retained salary would be a nice add for a contender
-Perry/Foligno - 1/2 retained salary for a veteran bottom 6 player could be desired.

Also, can I say I'm surprised we didn't buyout Zaitsev? He looked like a prime candidate to be bought out, especially since reaching the floor is not an issue by any means.

I'm good with most of the above. I'd send Korchinski back down to the WHL. He was on a team with literally (5) NHL 1st rounders and (3) 2nd rounders, plus others. Just a completely stacked team. Have him go back and continue to learn his 2-way game. We'll see if Dylan Guenther and/or Brad Lambert go back or not.

I didn't realize Zadina was waived until you posted this. Good catch and I'm all for rolling the dice. Not really a ton of downside.

Are we sure Korchinski is going to play up? We may see him for 9 or less games, I think. Not sure they want to burn a year of his ELC if they don't have to.

Then, we have 1 retained slot used already (McCabe) so only two players can be traded with salary retention. It may be likely that Hall is moved at 50% retained but both Perry & Foligno stay.

Yes, I, too, was surprised we didn't buy out Zaitsev.

I wouldn't be surprised if Korchinski played in the NHL next season, or at least a part of it. KD isn't going to rush him, so say after a 15 game trial he looks like he needs more time he'll give him more time in the WHL. Seattle still should be pretty good next season.

I'd still say it would be beneficial to have him play 9 games before sending him back to Seattle. Play 9 games, get a feel for the big leagues then go back and polish his game further in Seattle.
