So...San Jose gives up a superstar defenseman for two cap dumps, an overpaid mid goalie, another goalie who they have no use for, a washed prospect, and some picks which will probably be mid to late? I don't really see how this makes sense.

My only disagreement is that Jarry isn't mid, and wouldn't necessarily say overpaid. He has the 5th most wins in the last 3 years and the 4 goalies above him are all paid more with exception of Saros. Also, whoever Karlsson goes to the picks will most likely be mid to late as the only other supposed team is Carolina.

Also wouldn't call poulin washed... not saying he's a stud, but he missed most of this year for personal reasons in the AHL so it's tough to know what he is at the moment.

Fans of big market teams on this site believe that all small market teams only exist to serve them and are happy to take on multiple millions in horrible contracts for their benefit. I have been a member for 1 day and this is very clear to me.

And then they say, “you can just flip ‘em” as if that is super easy.

Take a look at Jarry's stats over the past 4 years and tell me it doesn't look exactly the same as Matt Murray right before he was traded to Ottawa.

Matt Murray also lost his father and completely fall apart due to that. Find a better example and maybe i'll consider.

Ok, how about stats then. Jarry was 34th in the NHL in goals saved above expected this past season, right behind Alex Stalock and Jake Allen. That screams mid to me.

The better point than "he's mid" would be the fact that a 28 year old goalie on a new contract doesn't benefit the Sharks in anyway. He's not young, a TDL trade target, or picks. That's what a rebuild team targets.

Yeah if we eat more money on Petry, and since Hextall is not longer a GM finding a sucker to take Granlund is impossible

Eating money to get more/better picks is what a rebuilding team does. I also don't have you retaining on EK so you have room to retain later if needed.
