Neither Lazar or Bennett have earned those contracts, and playing Brouwer with Bennett? Lol if you do that, you're basically saying "The Flames worst contract in 2 years somehow happens to be their highest ever pick."

I think that these contracts are realistic for those players... they are young but wont sign for less than those amounts.

Brouwer has to play somewhere and your not putting him with Johnny and Sean or breaking up the backland line....

Why would you just sign Iginla for the purpose of retiring him?

As I explained in a different post, Iggy scored 14 goals last year which would place him 7th on the Flames and his 28 total pts would have him sitting at 11th in overall team scoring.
Those are pretty decent 4th line numbers. So why not sign him for $1,000,000 and give him one final year here to take the retirement tour.
His prime is long gone, but his competitive nature would be welcome to help the young guys (Bennett) understand the effort it takes to move forward.
Iginla's shot alone on the PP would be a welcome addition on the second unit.
PLUS, based on his last game here with the Kings, he proved he's still willing to step up and help police the other teams from taking liberties with some of our smaller guys.

So I agree with signing him, but if doing it I'd like to see him play out the year. Even if it means being a healthy scratch a few games throughout the year to keep him fresher for one last big playoff run.
