As a Wings fan, I think this is a fair trade.

I don't think Yzerman will pay him 8.8M though.

It's hard to say about value from the Wings side. I wouldn't want to trade the Boston pick if they don't have their core centers re-sign. Devils advocate the Wings need a goal scorer now instead of waiting for one in ~3 years.
