You think that San Jose, who after all are a small-market team (smaller than the Pittsburgh metropolitan area), are going to pay $18.4 million for Erik Karlsson NOT to play for them?!?!?

He's worth more than Jeff Petry, by the way.

This post is for the next year AFTER the original trade was made. Reading is hard!

Also, SJ has very little leverage at this point, so unless they want to hold him, and let his value diminish, then a 1st + + + seems okay right about now.

What does that have to do with 4 times $4.6 million?

The year previous to 2024-2025 is 2023-2024, which means that San Jose would be paying for 4 years of retention.

Thinking is hard -- apparently, VERY hard for you.

It has to do with you thinking I traded Petry for Karlsson. I have no idea what you are even talking about anymore. Regroup and send me back your thoughts in an organized way, or stick to Islanders posts.

Trade #2 is Erik Karlsson for Jeff Petry. There's nothing to the contrary in your Team Description. That's why I think you traded Petry for Karlsson. If English isn't your first language, just say so.

Your statement is that the Karlsson for Petry trade (with no other qualification) occurs prior to the year shown in your ACGM, which is 2024-2025; ergo, it must occur sometime in this current cycle, i.e., the 2023-2024 season. By definition, that means that San Jose would be retaining on all of the seasons remaining on Karlsson's contract, that is to say, four seasons, hence my comment that you would have to be a moron to think that San Jose would retain a total of $18.4 million on Karlsson because there's absolutely no pressure ("leverage") for the Sharks to get rid of him.

Since you're so inexperienced on this site, I'll give you some unsolicited advice (which I doubt that you'll be receptive to): don't begin discussions by insulting people when you're clearly wrong -- it makes you look really stupid. Really, really stupid.
