A half retained Karlsson starts with Yager and 3 first round picks.
I really do not think that it does. In this market Karlsson holds all the cards thanks the NMC and teams that can afford to pay a 33 year old defenseman who does not play defense more than 50% are probably not interested in trading for him because he will not fit their window. I think his trade, if he is traded, is going to be kind of underwhelming for sharks fans. It will probably be around the Eichel deal if 40-50% is retained.

dude teams have historically paid 1st rounders for just dumping $5m
why do you think SJ will pull the trigger on a trade that pays $20m to another team to have their star player?
the answer is SJ will not
SJ's retention on a EK trade will be in the 20-30% ballpark based on what they have said and also I agree it's unreasonable to believe teams will pay what it actually costs for a huge retention (multiple 1sts)
