I think the Durzi trade pretty much took Roy off the block completely, but even if he was available I think this is way too much. I like him a lot as a player, but adding multiple other pieces of value on top of a first seems like a lot. I think we would regret moving Novikov especially.

Kings overpaid for Gavrikov because he played so well with Roy last season.

The Kings had 104 points with Copley, Petersen, Quick (and eventually Korpisalo), they have a more robust defense and will be icing Copley, Talbot, Rittich, and Portillo (and whoever they obtain at the deadline). They have better goaltending starting this season than they did last season. They don’t need to do anything until the TDL

Agreed. This trade is at TDL if your expectation of the above G situation does not pan out

Still pretty unlikely, If the Kings move any player from the $3-5M range it would be Arvidsson. Any one of Byfield, Kaliyev, Clarke, or Grundstrom could take the next step to offset the production Arvidsson provides, the Kings have no other shutdown RDs in the system who are close to being ready. Luukkonen fared worse than both Talbot and Copley last season.

I expect a long-term Matt Roy extension to be announced in the next few weeks. He won't be a rental at the deadline.
