Why not panarin to the right? I mean he should be awesome anywhere or he's just overpaid.

No reason except that Lafreniere has played on the right with Panarin and despite the short duration he played well there. I agree Panarin was an overpay but it was also a mistake to pick Laf when there was no room to get him the playing minutes his draaft position deserved.
