We should probably still trade Scandella to give Perunovich a starting role

It’s either that or tamper with Perunovich’s development. I’d rather give him the opportunity to play in the NHL than him playing the whole year in the AHL.

I think there is room for him, simply bench Scandella because I don't think anyone would want to trade for him, and I'm not sure it's worth giving up assets to unload him for one more year, while trying to find a way to navigate his M-NTC. While STL is getting a second buyout window, Scandella doesn't make 4mil to be bought out, and really none of the other buyout candidates would make sense, so this is likely going to be the starting lineup. This is part of the problem when you give your whole somewhat mediocre dcorps NTC/M-NTCs haha...

You’re absolutely right. I wouldn’t give up an asset, maybe he’d be wanted at half retention. But regardless, I’d like to see Perunovich on the 3rd pairing and QB of the 2nd PP unit. If we run 8 defense, I want the starting 5 to be Parayko, Faulk, Krug, Leddy, and Perunovich. The other 3 can rotate (Scandella, Bortuzzo, and Rosen. Tucker to the TBirds), while we ride the hot hand. We can worry about making changes next off-season when we have more cap flexibility and 1 less year of term on some contracts we want to move.
