Rangers don't have the cap for that deal. Brodie doesn't waive to Arizona

Leafs get a cap dump and a bunch of nothing for one of the best RW in the league? Easy no

A former 2nd overall pick who is playing on the top line for a contending team, who has size and defensive acumen as well as obvious offensive talent, making 2.1 mil for the next 2 years, after which he'll become n RFA....

AND

A 21 year old former first round pick who has been playing in the top 6 for a contending team from the time he was 20, who has size, puck moving ability, physicality and defensive acumen, still on his ELC for the next 2 years...

AND

A 1st overall pick

And all we have to do is bring on a guy who can still contribute to our 3rd line, to go with a long term cost controlled solution for our top pair to partner with Rielly, and a long term top 6 cost controlled winger who will be a no doubt first liner, all for less cap than an expiring Willy who's asking for over $9.5 mil until he's 36? AND A FIRST?!?!

Nevermind my friend here, he's had a little too much of the Willy sauce tonight. We happily accept!

Nylander and best don't go in the same sentence. At all.

Here we go again with your absurd definition of value. Do you understand how badly Toronto loses this trade? Toronto gets the scraps that the Rangers are trying to get rid of in order for them to bring in a player like Nylander to be closer to the cup. What happens to Toronto? They lose a 40-50 goal scorer and ends up with 3 depth pieces. Kakko has been playing on a top line with stud players on NYR and accomplished nothing more than a 40 pt season aka he’s not a top 6 guy. the other two guys have low ceilings and are pure depth. The late 1st round pick is meaningless since Toronto is trying to win a cup. Remember, the team that gets the best player wins the trade and Toronto gets nothing close to that.

Thank god you aren’t the GM of any team because your assessment of value is straight out of left field. Guys like Nylander are ones that you try to acquire not give away, if Leafs do this trade it would be a fleecing and a half and I guarantee you the majority of the fan base would be against it.

Buddy, there's nowhere to begin with this because you're just completely delusional. Use your thinker my guy, those are not depth pieces. They are incredibly young, cheap, high value players who are already contributing n the NHL. Nylander scores 40 goals for the first and now he's a 40-50 goal scorer? Hahahaahahaha

So those guys are young high value players with potential but Nylander isn’t? You sound like a clown and a troll. If goodrow and kakko ever become more than top 9 players then the value would still be off. Leafs decline and block the Rangers number.

This is your issue - you have a very limited knowledge base and are extremely short-sighted. So you can see Nylander's value, but you can't take age, contract status, salary cap, talent, potential or defensive ability into account for the other players. A bunch of nothing? Get serious buddy.

Not to mention we literally can't afford to resign Nylander at the contract he's requesting. Jokes on you but obviously you're set in your ways at this point.

I'm a Leafs fan and I can see that Willy is a good player. Some Leafs fans think he's Connor McDavid, and that's barely an exaggeration...

I know we have an embarrassing fan base. All I ask is that people don't paint us all with the same brush...

This is so petty. I guess not all leaf fans overvalue their players, some of them just don’t know the value of any player or what it takes to build a cup winning team. A return that isn’t even as good as what Jets got for Dubois; a player where they had no leverage because he was going to walk regardless. I hope your wish comes true and they make this trade (which will never ever happen) and then Leafs drop 3-5 places in the standings because of it.
