Those cap hits for Sway and Freddy might be a bit high, but wouldnt be surprised either way

we know Lauko could be an effective bottom 6 guy, would personally rather see Merkulov get a shot in the lineup, see how he adapts to the NHL and where he could fit in the future

I would guess Swayman’s contract if 4.2m would be for 4 years. Kind of a strange dynamic, but the lower the number … the less the years. You also should be able to bury Forbort and go with a 22 man roster if push comes to shove

I agree with you on Merkulov, just with how Sweeney runs the show he loves burying his young guys in the AHL so we'll see.

Just with both players going to arbitration it's really up in the air. I used comparables though on some recent signings.

Until proven otherwise, Forbort is better than Shattenkirk. We know what to expect from Forbort! Shattenkirk made every team worse after he arrived. He was pretty bad in Washington, and pretty terrible in Anaheim... Forbort being on the PK is +/- +22 Shattenkirk being on the PP is a-26...

Well you have to take into account the teams they've been on. Forborts +22 was on the best team in history, while Shattenkirk was a -26 on an absolute dumpster fire of a team.

This is a career number. Shattenkirk played on WSH, TBL, NYR, and he played PP that is a big difference. But hey, as I said, until proven otherwise
