Except we don't have a reserve Forward on this team. Also, that cap space goes down to 3 mill if Landeskog returns. A lot of unknowns for next season.

Avs usually only carry 21 skaters. Macdermid fills in forward or defense in a pinch if on the road. While at home, the Eagles are just down the highway.

Landeskog returning could be a curveball, might be why the Avs haven't re-signed Toews yet, want to see how Landy's recovery goes the first couple months here after surgery. I personally think he's done sadly. Lonzo Ball had the same surgery months before Landeskog and he can barely complete basic tasks without pain. There's been reports that his team's management don't think Lonzo will ever play again.

The Lonzo stuff definitely isn't encouraging, but we can't count on Landy being 100 percent done either. That's what makes the cap situation so tricky. And while we usually only carry 21, I don't think it's too smart to be that tight up against the cap with 21. Could hamstring us in-season.

Leafs accept

They typically prefer a full 23 man foster with extra 2D1F. There were times laat season before putting Landy on LTIR when they also had a few non-LTIR roster injured, like Bowers, taking up cap space. And CMac was trying to accrue cap space for the deadline by not utilizing LTIR most of the season. They got into a pickle with all the injuries and I'm sure they do NOT want to repeat this.

I assume they'll leave some cap room for 23 this season.

I can’t see the leafs making a trade in their forward core unless it involves Nylander.
