20man roster with $2700 remaining cap means any player needing to miss game time for a non LTIR injury, and you are playing a man short.

Stomach flu, precautionary maintenance day, birth of a child, minor injury etc. things come up. A 20 man roster is a guaranteed way to run this team ragged and tired before the playoffs ever start

Well the Samsonov arb hearing today could swing things either for the better or worse

Leafs started with a 20 man squad last year. Not ideal, but doable. Having the farm team in the same city helps immensely.
Rumours are that Murray is injured (concussion and ankle injuries resurfaced ); wouldn’t be surprised at all if he starts the season on LTIR. If arb awards Sammy $3M ( prob unlikely) we could run a 21 man roster 🤞

Just if Sammy were to sign 3.5M then youd have to send down robertson for someone under his cap hit along with any extra players
