I would switch Caufield for Aho and move Draisaitl to the wing

Aho is a much better defensive forward and about the same level of offensive forward

i do not hate you for the claim that right now they have the same offensive output, but that is not going to be the case going forward. Caufield will be a top 5 goalscorer in the world.

That might be the case in a few years but for the next 2-3 years Aho is the clear and away better player... top 12 centers don't exactly grow on trees. Caufield needs to put together a full season with over 35+ goals before I jump on the hype train

the middle 6 C are very solid 2 way guys. Without Cole on that team, you lack a lot of pure goalscoring talent

Caufield is a defensive liability (2nd percentile according to JFresh) and he currently doesn't produce enough goals to be put on a team like this... Draisaitl isn't exactly a great defensive forward so having those two on the same line might not be the best idea. Leon Draisaitl and William Nylander are both very good goal scorers. Plus if you add aho you get a solid two way player than can plot thirty five goals a year

well, now you're stepping into delusion land assuming bringing Aho into a team immediately has a defensive improvement like you added Bergeron to the team. Aho is solid defensively but he's not Phil Danault. He isn't shutting down every top line, and that was evident this past playoffs.

Also, every forward who is 22 and under is a defensive liability statistically, especially when the team you're on is bottom-feeding. Not really meaningful to acknowledge his defensive capabilities having known the circumstances and stage of his career he is in.

No, I'm just saying Aho is way better defensive forward than Caufield is rn and it would allow Draisaitl to move back to the wing. He isn't shutting down every top line because Jordan Staal is there to do it and his line is much better suited to do it. I get that he's young and younger players tend to be bad defensively and especially on bad teams but at this point, Aho is much better defensively than Caufield.

You need goals to win games🤷‍♂️, thats why you build a good D with a stable goalie.
