I just don’t see a team taking Petry at that cap hit for 2 more years and San Jose wouldn’t retain on him because that would clog up all 3 of their retention slots for multiple years.

Would be dream trade. But as above I wonder if pitts will have to retain on Petry to get his salary moved. Maybe pitts holds on to $2mil? Pitts puts a goalie in AHL to save another million?

With that return to SJ they should pay whatever sweetener necessary to move Petry

quite the opposite, this is a massive overpay from the pens. Unless EK is coming in at 50% retain, I would never give up Pickering, 1st and a 2nd that can become a 1st
