Elliotte Friedman mentioned last week the Leafs may not be able to buyout Murray due to his concussions. If that is the case he may never play again meaning he is eligible for LTIR but that is not confirmed just what he was hearing.

I listened to what Friedman had to say and he didn't rule out the possibility of a buyout.

If the Leafs don't buy him out later this week and he comes back at any point next season, the Leafs will have violated the salary cap.

Gambling that Murray won't play again is a risky proposition.
