What is SJ going to do with a 3rd goaltender? Swap him out with something that actually makes sense.

All teams carry 3-5 nhl quality goaltenders nowadays because there are so many injuries/changes in levels of play

Also there's been interest in Khakhonen, they could trade him then even trade DeSmith at the deadline of he puts up good numbers and his value increases as a rental with a starter hurt short term somewhere

I think if Comtois gets a trial on the top line leave him on the left and put Guentzel on the other side to give Comtois the best chance (I don't think Guentzel suffers

I prefer trialing acciari on the 1st, he's put up 20 goals before and I don't see why he couldn't on this line, question is does he hold them back

Carter's only redeeming quality is that he can win draws and kill PKs. Of he makes this roster he has to be 4th C and they have to find a way to spread the EV minutes to the other 3Cs

Unless something crazy happens at camp, Nylander should have a spot over Nieto, Poulin and Carter.

Pettersson & Letang have good results in small sample, try them and make the more OFD play with the more DFD. I'd love to see those tried first

What do you think? What's your thinking for these?

Comtois is listed as a lw but actually preferred playing rw. His signature goals in junior and early days were off the rush one timers on the right side. He’s big and skilled and fast and would be a perfect fit on line 1.

Acciari is a sick player but there’s no way he sees top 6 minutes unless the whole team is injured. He is one of the better bottom 6 guys in the league.

I think ideally they would move carter but that’s not likely. Dubas goes wayyyy back with carter. I think it’s important for them to put him in a more scoring type of role with better talent with him. They signed eller to be 3c and I don’t think carter is a good 4c as a 4c needs to be more physical and defensive minded. Put Eller as 3c, carter can take draws sometimes if he needs to, and allow carter to focus on scoring. Rust on this line gives a good offensive/defensive balance.

Nylander is gonna have to have a hell of a camp to crack lineup and maybe he does over poulin. I think it’s him, poulin, o Connor, hinostroza and Johnnson competing for 1 spot. Nieto is definitely going to be playing game 1. Really good player. Look at his college stats with rust on the same team. I expect poulin to take a big step this year now that hopefully whatever was plaguing him mentally is over and done with. He is a big body and once they put him at C he was a beast in the ahl. He probably won’t ever have top 6 ceiling but he can be a great bottom 6 forward. Acciari and Nieto would be a great guys to learn from.

On D, I think you okay nationalities a bit and keep Canadians with Canadians and Swedes with Swedes. Letang and Graves will be the shutdown pair playing a lot with 87s line against other teams top lines. EK and MP get to feast offensively.

Cool to get your input though. We won’t know until camp what they have in mind but this is my thoughts right now. I do think the odds of them getting karlsson are extremely high. Like almost certain. Dubas, sid, letang and the whole fan base has been vocal about it. Dubas wants to make a splash and this should be it.

I agree with the odds of a Karlsson trade definitely another move left to do. Excited to see how it all shakes out
