Move Nemec to AHL…probably Tierney too.

I would hope Nemec starts the season with them. I understand having two rookies on the backend can be scary but It also could work in their favor if it panes out.

I guarantee we won't be doing that. Nemec will see enough NHL time to eat a contract year, quite possibly on purpose. We may actually want him to get to free agency quicker, so we can get him under contract before he's fully turned into a top-pairing defenseman, that'll help keep the AAV down.

Why burn an ELC on a developing 19-year old Dman? Better for Devils to have him play age-22 season on ELC. Fitzy has spoken about this…and explained his reasoning for keeping Holtz down in 2021-22 for same reason. Also, why else would we have traded for Colin Miller?

Nemec will play if needed or if he forces his way on team. But more likely he plays less than 9 games in NHL.
