Most creative Nylander trade i've seen, i'll give you that. Not sure it makes any sense for the Preds though

I agree with this. NSH would still likely decline. It just doesn't make a ton of sense to trade for a player that pushes NSH in a "win more now" mode while trading Saros, who is the only reason NSH is in a position where they can even claim to compete.

It has nothing to do with value at this point. Trading Saros moves the window to compete from 2-3 years to 4-5 years. By that point Nylander is 32-33 and is on the decline and even if an extension was signed as part of the deal, he would be on the back half of that contract. Additionally any veteran leadership is gone outside of Forsberg (Josi, ROR, Schenn, and Nyquist) and it just wouldn't make sense. IMO, if it was Marner instead then I might be more onboard as he would still be 29-30 by the time NSH is competing, but TOR likely declines this if it is Marner instead.

1. Leadership 2. Knows how to win 3. Adds C depth 4. Cheap

Kampf will still play an important role, as you say a good shut-down guy who is key on the PK.
