Have Mercer sign an extension as part of the deal, pull out Siegenthaler, and upgrade the pick to a conditional 2025 2nd-round pick that turns into a 2025 1st-round pick if NJD makes the playoffs. Nothing against Siegenthaler, NSH's left side is already over capacity as NSH already has 3 players fighting for the bottom pair on the left side behind Josi - McDonagh, with a 4th player not far behind. Siegenthaler just complicates that for NSH.

NSH declines. NSH is going to likely want a piece back instead of just picks, especially late 1sts. NSH would probably look at someone like Cowan and the lower of the 2 firsts as the starting point for Saros.

NSH declines. If NSH is dealing Saros it is for quality, not quantity. None of these pieces are enough to move the needle for NSH. Pinelli and the first would the big pieces here and Pinelli fell off a cliff since moving to the AHL. So from NSH's POV it looks like a prospect with a high degree of uncertainty at current, 2 prospects NSH has no need of (due to other prospects already in system) and a pick likely somewhere between 16-25 for a top 5 goalie in the league? No thanks.
Not saying I'm going to ask for Byfield or Clarke, but there has to be more quality if NSH is moving arguably their best player.

Nashville trades saros and instantly throws their competitiveness into uncertainty.
Beyond that, he wont be the guy for years with Josi around. Not on 5v5, nor on the PP. He just isnt going to be the go to guy.</div></div>
Not only that, but with Molendyk in the wings to come up right after Josi, he would have to fight with a younger and more in his prime Molendyk. Chychrun would always be a number 2, and that's not bad, but not in a deal for Saros.

Would like to personally see a center come back for Saros instead, but especially if Carrier walks or NSH deals Fabbro during the off-season, then this deal makes a lot of sense.
It definitely means a big step back for NSH unless they go hunting for a big name during the off-season, maybe someone like a Sam Reinhart considering all of the cap space they would have as a result.

NSH declines and blocks your number. Why would NSH trade away arguably their best prospect and goalie of the future for a defenseman who is now on the wrong side of 30 and a late 1st round pick? Just because Matheson had a good year, doesn't mean that his value has skyrocketed that much. Additionally, NSH already has an incredibly stacked left side. In NSH's system he is playing behind Josi and fight McDonagh for 2nd line minutes. Not to mention he will be fighting the 3 defenseman on the left side NSH has in the AHL who are fighting for their spot now. Just doesn't make sense for NSH.

Assuming NSH doesn't resign either Zucker or Beauvillier then I'm not opposed to spending a 4th on giving Kostin a shot. NSH can resign either of them and have Tomasino waiting in the wings, so I don't think NSH does the deal because it isn't needed, but if neither of them get resigned, NSH will need someone on the left side and Kostin could do it.

Trotz has said numerous times in different press conferences around the topic "Why can't we have both Saros and Askarov?" His intention seems to be to run both of them in a 1A 1B situation, similar to how BOS is operating now and how Saros and Rinne operated toward the end of Rinne's career. NSH is not unfamiliar with how to handle this kind of situation.
Regardless of Saros's contract situation, Trotz isn't going to budge on his asking price for Saros. Again, goalies who are regularly in the conversation for the Vezina and are considered top 5 in the league don't come cheap.

Mercer is a non-starter for a rental. Casey, maybe, but probably not with a 1st attached.</div></div>
Trotz has been VERY vocal on what he would expect as a return for Saros. Goalies who are consistently top 5 in the league don't grow on trees. Saros would be the best goalie on the market by a large margin, should they move him.
Trotz has already said if he doesn't get a premium package for him then he will just resign Saros instead, and his idea of "premium" was last year when LAK asked for him and he said the equivalent of 3-4 1st's/ Blue-chip prospects. That has likely come down, but it is still the equivalent of 2-3 of those. If term is really all you are concerned about, that could be negotiated as part of the deal.
The comp we always see is Schneider, regardless of how many people would do it, and that would be the minimum Trotz would potentially accept for Saros. If you aren't willing to put in an offer that would pull other top goalies away from their teams (e.g. Ottenger from DAL) then what makes you think NSH would be willing to seperate from Saros that easily?

NSH declines easily. A single 1st round pick that is likely to be somewhere between 12-20 doesn't get you Saros. And my likely hot take, Lauzon > Marino, not for play reasons, but for contract reasons. Lauzon has become a decent 2-way defenseman while leaning more toward defense, which is what NSH needs.
If you want to only throw only one 1st at a chance toward getting Saros, the Casey or Mercer better be involved as well. Especially considering that for the 2025 pick, a contract can be negotiated prior to the trade happening.

For NSH, you will need to swap Bahl for a different player/prospect. Carrier plays RD and NSH is already full on the left side and has at least 3 other players who are already vying for a spot, like Stastney, Del Gaizo, Olson, and even Molendyk. This is on top of their current left side looking like Josi, McD, Lauzon. I get Casey and the pick are the big pieces here, but if NSH is giving up their pick as well, then I'd be eyeing someone like Clarke instead in that spot.

If this was last year, NSH might have taken that deal, but Kidney has fallen off heavily from last year Harris doesn't add anything for NSH who has Fabbro, Livingstone, and Ufko all as RD. The picks are the only thing intriguing to NSH and I doubt they would want to wait that long on one of, if not their best offensive prospect

You continue to say this but, NSH will not trade Saros for that. Trotz will just resign him if all anyone will ever offer is a late 1st. If Schneider fetched 9th OA (which I know many people wish hadn't happened) Saros will easily get that value or more.
Top 5 goalies in the league don't grow on trees and any team who wants Saros is going to have to pay more for him than the equivalent return MTL got for Sean Monahan.

NSH declines. This isn't enough for Saros + Sissons. Holtz is good, but he isn't as valuable to NSH who already has a war chest of top RW prospects/players (Kemell, Wood, Evangelista, Tomasino). Not saying he doesn't bring anything to the table, but it is a rich get richer situation, and NSH would rather address their bigger need at center if Saros is going to be traded, especially if NSH is also giving up another center in the process.
Marino is good, but NSH can lock down its right side in free agency with a better RD if Saros isn't being resigned by going after a more elite RD, and NSH has a ton of 2nd and 3rd pair RD's as it stands.
The picks are the most valuable here and they aren't enough to get NSH to bite on selling both Saros and Sissons.

NSH won't accept that package if the 1st isn't involved. Holtz is good, but NSH already has several strong RW prospects, so Holtz isn't as big of a piece for NSH as he may be for other teams. Trotz has already said he wants to resign Saros unless the deal for Saros is too good to turn down. What that looks like is either that 1st round pick comes to NSH or you have to consider Mercer instead of Holtz. NSH needs a young top 6 center who can play in their system and Mercer is exactly the type of player they would want. NSH would just resign Saros if the 1st or Mercer isn't involved.
I know it isn't what anyone wants to accept, but that is the reality for teams looking at Saros.

Turnaround
I would say SEA considers this, but likely declines. A lot of this hinges on SEA then locking down their goalie situation and there are one of two options, either find a goalie in free agency, which looks a bit bleak or by looking to SEA's next best goalie prospect, Vyazovoy, who is currently in the VHL/KHL and seeing how quickly SEA could get him to NA. Schmid honestly doesn't add much to this deal, and SEA doesn't want to lock in the tandem of Grub and Schmid for next year, as that is basically two back-ups unless Grub gets his act together.
Clarke and the picks are more what I'd be interested in, but this puts SEA in the market for a goalie and the current crop of goalies doesn't look particularly great. If SEA can secure someone who can be a starter in free agency, then I'd say sure, but I just don't think it's likely.

NSH doesn't touch the Mangiapane deal. He hasn't proven that he is worth that cap hit. Novak has produced more than him and is payed 2.3 mil less than him. He had a career year and signed a big contract on that and then just hasn't lived up to it.
I would also rather just resign Carrier than go after Rutta. But I do like the Walker signing for the right side so NSH can have Schenn as the 7th D.
If NSH could get Gourde retained for that price, I'd be pretty pumped, but I feel like SEA would want more considering how up against the cap they are now and have Berniers to resign among other young forwards.

100% agree, but to get McCann it's probably going to take more quality than quantity. I would say NSH has what SEA is looking for, being either young defense or RW prospects. SEA really only has Evans and Price, both of who are on LD and Firkus is the best RW prospect SEA has, but after that for both positions it kind of falls off a cliff in terms of quality. If NSH was to offer one of Ufko, Kemell, or Tomasino as well as 1st and another pick would be the likely starting point for SEA.

Big Marner Trade
It's an interesting trade and I think SEA would entertain it, although GMRF is not known for trading 1sts, so he may try to exchange it for a different arrangement of picks. The bigger issue is that the crop of UFA RD's is pretty thin this year, leaving not many choices for SEA to reasonably replace Larsson. If SEA could secure someone like Roy, Tanev, or Carrier out of FA before the trade I wouldn't be opposed to seeing something like this, as having Marner on a line with Berniers could be the spark to get Berniers back to form.

Offseason ideas
This is an easy pass for NSH. Boucher has not looked good this year in the AHL, so why would NSH take a strict downgrade on all fronts by giving up more assets not only in prospects but in current NHL quality for a late 1st, an uninspiring prospect, and a 3rd next year? Tomasino is outpacing Boucher in PPG by a wide margin while also putting up nearly half a point per game at the NHL level.
This is also not to mention that NSH already has several top-tier RW prospects and young players like Evangelista, Kemell, and Wood in addition to Tomasino.
