The Hawks have Alex Vlasic as a rookie who's by far been the best defensive player on the team, better than Korchinski (22 years old vs. 19 years old), but also ranks top 3 this season in the entire NHL in the defensive zone. The guy is a stud and playing first line on the left hand side.

Chabot would literally be behind Vlasic and the Hawks have plenty of young defensive players and prospects in the system on the left anyway so no need for a 2nd liner. Also, let's pretend the hawks didn't have Vlasic, a rebuilding team is not giving up Reichel and a 1st for Chabot

Hawks can't decline that deal fast enough. Chabot literally fills NO NEED the Hawks have. Vlasic and Korchinski will be fixtures on the left side for the next decade. DelMastro or Kaiser likely fill the other LD spot. Korchinski will be QB of PP1. Unless Chabot miraculously transforms into a 2-way 2C, there's no spot for him in Chicago.

Even if CHI had any interest in acquiring Chabot or another LD in general, he isn't worth this much and CHI would never pay this much for a player at this point in the rebuild. OTT might be able to dupe some team into paying something like this for him, though.

This is an easy pass for NSH. Boucher has not looked good this year in the AHL, so why would NSH take a strict downgrade on all fronts by giving up more assets not only in prospects but in current NHL quality for a late 1st, an uninspiring prospect, and a 3rd next year? Tomasino is outpacing Boucher in PPG by a wide margin while also putting up nearly half a point per game at the NHL level.

This is also not to mention that NSH already has several top-tier RW prospects and young players like Evangelista, Kemell, and Wood in addition to Tomasino.

1. Hawks don't need LD.
2. Chabot isn't worth that.
