I don't see any reason why the Flames would do that trade

This is what the Sens need to do however Flames probably value Pelletier a lot so not sure it would work

Flames aren't in a position financially to be giving up NHL ready guys on ELC's until the cap increases significantly. a Brannstrom for Dube framework to a deal would make a little more sense but I don't really see a reason for the Flames to be interested in Brannstrom.

Why not? I don't see any wealth on Flames LHD, particularly if Hanifin leaves. Although Weegar plays both sides.

Brannstrom is rising fast and even his offense is underrated. He has paced for 24 pts per 82 games since 2020-21 (21 y/o season). Just a few more pucks going in and he's a 30+ pts D-man

But it's his defensive and transition game that raised the eyes. Top-30 metrics last season

But agreed with the Dube idea. If I was Ottawa and if it was possible of course, I'd do Brannstrom for Dube and Kubalik for a pick (to be cap compliant to sign pinto)

Weegar is in pen as the 1LD, if they deal Hanifin, Kylington is the 2LD with Tanev as that's where he had his career year and Zadorov plays the role of 3LD better and outproduced Braanstrom last season, outside of that Poirier is on the rise, fast. Solovyov and Kuznetsov fill out the pipeline but there is no rush on any of that with the current situation. I don't think Brannstrom is a bad target I think it's just the wrong fit right now and isn't worth spending contributing assets which they would have to do for cap reasons.

Well I completely forgot about Kylington

Just looked at dailyfaceoff.com line combinations and defense would be pretty good if everyone was there

Noah Hanifin - Rasmus Andersson
MacKenzie Weegar - Chris Tanev
Oliver Kylington - Nikita Zadorov

Weegar and Zadorov being able to play both sides gives a lot of options too

So yeah Brannstrom might not be a need
