Wildcard team. With the available cap space you could easily upgrade Mittelstadt/Vilardi in the top 6F to put them into conference finals contention maybe

Really guys?
Ekholm, Heiskanen, Montour, Vilardi, that goalie tandem and that 1st line?
This looks like a bonafide cup contender to me.

D core and goaltending is this teams strength.

Vilardi 2RW on a cup contender? Really? Even Mittelstadt is unproven as a 2C in a deep playoff run playing against other top 2Cs

Mittelstadt played ridiculously well down the stretch though, and while I don't think this team's C corps is a strength of theirs I'd bet Mitts could hold his own as a lower end 2C.

As for Vilardi, he's closer to a 1st liner than anything else and I honestly believe he's every bit as good as player as PLD. He's absolute dynamite.
Jets fleeced Kings in that trade.

Put away your fancy charts for a minute and come join me in the real world for a moment.

Prior to last season, Mittelstadt had 3 consecutive seasons where he failed to play more than half of a full regular NHL season. He’s also got zero playoff experience. Before last year he only had a career high pt total of 25. Far from a 2C cup contender resume.

Then Vilardi. Career high games of 63, career high points of 41. 21-22 season had 7 points and was demoted to AHL role. 7 career playoff games experience. Don’t care what the charts say, he doesn’t have a large enough sample size to support your notion that he’s a bonafide 1st liner on a cup contender. Every bit as good as PLD? Based on what evidence? Lol PLD has 3 60 point seasons, 2 50 point seasons has a handful of seasons where he was healthy and played 70+ games. Decent playoff numbers (based on a decent sample size of 35+ games)
