I’m not really sure how much I value a 1 year stop gap in Backllund, but my perspective is this might make sense for both teams. Probably just better off keeping Frederic and Grzelcyk

Doesn’t fill a need for Calgary at all. I’d want a pick and a prospect or young centre for Backlund

Unless an offer comes along that Conroy can't say no too, I think Backlund will be on the team to start the season.

From my perspective Grzcelcyk and Frederic probably secure more in independent trades than Backlund. It’s kind of meh overall but If Hanifan is traded … it probably a fit for both teams as one yeae stop gaps

Frederic is the young player in this deal

This doesn’t help BOS, stopgap means they have someone coming up soon that can fill the role and BOS doesn’t have anyone. At best they have Poitras, who has future 2C potential but is atleast 2 years out. So no need to give away pieces for something that doesn’t really help for the future.

Edit: Poitras is at best 2C and could end up a bottom 6 center so hardly a stopgap for 1-2C
