He did pretty good for the Blues. 10 goals and 14 pts in 20 games. I imagine they flip him with retention at the deadline

I felt it was a mistake once I saw how he performed on the blues

A small sample size isn’t a reason to now pay a lot after a large sample size of poor performance.

I think this could possibly be a lay in waiting deadline trade if the blues miss playoffs. It would help us add a bit of scoring going into playoffs without giving away too much.

That is a lot for a guy who hasn’t hit 20 goals for the last 3 years and can’t stay healthy for crap.

First of all, you're probably going to need to wait. The Blues want to see him from the start of the season, see if he can continue scoring anywhere near the 40 goal pace he was on after the trade. Secondly, wouldn't you need to move more cap? Thing the third, I doubt Drury moves the needle much and your other prospect/young players are either similarly meh in some way or they're too good for you guys to part with.

In other words, this will probably be a draft pick trade during the season regardless of how the Blues are doing in the playoff picture, and we just need to wait to see what round. Could be a 3rd. Could be a 1st. They could just extend him. We shall see.

As others have said. The only realistic timeframe for Vrana to be traded from STL is towards the deadline if we stink still.

It’s hard to place a value on him. On one hand he’s a major risk for any taker. On the other hand, he’s a legitimate young .5Gpg player who with retention can fit in to virtually any cap structure. The spectrum of the value of him is from nobody would touch him to a 1st+. Very curious to see how it plays out.

I think for all of us Blues fans, ideally he continues to work out here and we’re talking about an extension vs trading him because he’s a really fun player to watch with a lot of speed and he fits our core age range.

I'd like to see him start the season with RobTom and Buch.

I would as well. Personally I’d like to split Kyrou and Thomas up. But I can see the reluctance not to. I just think those two together either light the world on fire or are completely nonexistent. And with those two together they have to be existent to be effective.

I don’t know how these lines will configure. But the way I see it it may be best off to have Schenn with Vrana and Kyrou as a full rush line. The rest of our group are pretty good cycle players

My main reason for wanting to split up Thomas and Kyrou is I'd rather have two lines with one elite transition puck carrier than one line with two elite transition puck carriers. I mean, there's only one puck out there. And those two didn't start last season together, either. Hopefully Chief feels the same about splitting them, but got justifiably desperate last season.
