Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 27, 2023
Published: Aug. 8, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
How many contracts is Drury trying to fit under the Cap? Laffy, Laffy, and Motte (or similar), or Laffy, Motte, and tdl contract cap space?
Signing Motte will go a long way to solidifying the depth; Pitlick as quality13th forward helps with 22 man roster
Jones will not be sent through waivers, he will make the team or be traded for another blocked prospect.
22-man roster to build cap space so 1 in-season addition can be explored
The Cap would be around 2.1M at the tdl.
1L Wheeler for skill level and experience with Zibby, Laffy gets premium time
2L Kakko for Panarin D support, suck it up bread and Chytil is a finisher
3L Kreids (PP is the important role), Tro, and Vesey; play well together, strong in NS and grit
4L Goody is the leader and Bonino can slide to C if Goody is called to fill gaps higher up as needed

1D Miller/Fox a look for going forward
2D Lindgren frees-up Trouba to return to his strong O-side and puck-moving game
3D Zones and Gustafsson's battle for 3LD could be decided in-season with them sharing duties at the beginning of the season; they both have puck-moving skills and are a good match with Schneider. The edge goes to Gustafsson for his experience, size bump, and Lavi connection, Jones is more than capable of earning the spot.

PP and PK assignments separate to prevent burnout.

Laffy's bridge deal is rumored to be in the 2.1 - 2.9M range; estimates on Kakko and Chytil bridge deals were high. Kakko was in a similar position as far as development Looking at the lower end.

I’d put Trocheck on PK since he’s the best faceoff guy. Key is to get Fox off the PK to reduce his minutes

I think chytil > Kakko over for PP1 to add another shooter besides Mika

Some good ideas. Thinking Wheeler should be able to create the space for Chytil finishing and Kakko may be duplicating some of what Wheeler does if they were together, but I would like a PP1a and 1b depending on matchups.

I hope wheeler mentors Kakko. It would be tremendous

Also curious to see if Wheeler still got any in the tank or not. I know he got injured last year and now has the off-season to get back to 100%
