Running a 20-man roster without enough cap space to really accrue any substantial amount by the deadline is a very detrimental combination to any team. If you must be right up the cap, be as close to a 23-man unit as possible. This can be mitigated by sticking to the market ask for a bridge on Bouchard: $3.9M and keeping either Holloway or Pederson (or a player from a PTO) on the NHL roster. I don't think that there's a vast difference in Bouchard signing a one- or-two-year bridgetoday as he's going to hit that upper echelon anyways. Edmonton is left with about $300k in cap space, which by the deadline will have accrued into an actually usable amount of cap space by the deadline.
Your lines are outdated: RNH likely isn't going to see much action as a center unless McDavid and Draisaitl are paired together on a line.
EDIT: because of bonuses, it's probably more beneficial to have Holloway on the opening night roster than Pederson as his bonuses won't count against the cap by the time the deadline hits.
