You and I appear to be the only Sabre fans who see Petry as a potential top pairing RHD.
If an offer similar to this was given to the Sabres, they really missed the boat.
Lindström has not demonstrated that he is significantly better than Stillman, or Bryson and a fourth is, "OK your guy is better than ours", type of addition.
Moving Jokiharju to the third pairing would give Buffalo depth, Petry and Clifton are both heavy hitters who would make life uncomfortable for players entering the Sabre offensive Zone.

Not all GM's discuss every trade with every other teams, there is a likelyhood, that Petry was never offered to Buffalo.
Maybe on the other hand Buffalo countered, we will take the full cap hit for the next two years, but YOU need to give us a pick!

That's why I find it hard to get on the KA hate-wagon. Players have choices. It's not always management ineptitude and/or delusion and/or negligence.

Well I think prior Management and this Ownership still have a lot to do with it. Think Adams is paying for that a bit, but you also have to be willing to pull the trigger and not just talk about it.

True dat. But...we also need to remember that good FA's hit the market every year and, maybe most importantly, players who reach UFA status have earned the right to choose where they want to play and dependent upon the pool (and their talent/numbers) what the price tag is.
