Idk, hanifin is a good useful defenseman, why would we do that when we can load up on holls and petrys

Wow a 23 year old average future bottom 6 Dman and 2nd and 3rd over two years, the Flames will get more than that.....if Conroy gets off his ass and does something, or teams stop trying to undercut the newbee. A much higher prospect has to be added if it's anything less than a 1st, or a scoring right Winger under 25.

I am a Flames fan and eventually Conroy has to let him go. This is realistic even if I think they should get more.

Yes Hanifin is young but 8 years in league vs old Petry and old Holl. I wish my Flsmes get more but they may not in the end and have stated they don’t want to lose assets for nothing

Yes but McIsaac is AHL fodder and Hanifin is a bonafide top pair D. Even if you're not high on him he's top 4 at worst.

Flames will get a nice return for Hanifin if they trade him.

I really do hope you are correct but it may not happen and “asset management “ is what Conroy talked about at his first press conference meaning don’t lose him for nothing like what happened with Johnny Hockey. EDIT: Also McIsaac is only 23 so can improve and make NHL, was a 2nd round draft choice, and is also Canadian so checks a lot or boxes there for Calgary and asset management.

McIsaac doesn't have 2nd round pick value anymore. He hasn't for years now. It's like Zadina. He was drafted 6th overall. But he no longer has that value. Far from it.

I understand not wanting to lose Hanifin for nothing like the 🌲 did with Gaudreau. But Conroy can't be giving away his best players for pennies on the dollar either.

Or else he'll no longer be Flames GM.

Well as a Flames fan, I know a bit more about the local team and Conroy apprenticed a long time and is very well-liked so he won’t be leaving even with 1-2 big blunders, also because the owner is too cheap to get an experienced and accomplished GM. Anyways, my trade could work with perhaps the 2nd becoming a first but you and I don’t really know how good or bad that McIssac is in reality. Sometimes a new organization makes a player blossom.

McIsaac definitely needs a new start somewhere. But I'm afraid he's no longer a prospect but a suspect. It's unfortunate he had so many injuries earlier in his career.

He was a Kenny Holland draft pick and Detroit was high on him IIRC. I won't argue that you know more about the Flames than I do. You see every game.

But what I do know is that's not nearly enough of a return for Hanifin and Yzerman would take that deal and run. Conroy would be the laughingstock of the NHL and be axed immediately.

Yup I do watch all Flames games….and I upgraded th draft choice to a first (in the comments) but if it’s trade deadline and this is only thing on table, you take it.

I think Conroy would get quite a few Hanifin offers at the trade deadline. Any playoff contender would love to add him to their lineup.

Again I DO hope you are right. The problem is if Cgy is in or near playoffs at trade deadline, they will want to keep him and then still maybe lose him for nothing at the end of year. That’s what Conroy and Fans want to avoid.

Oh I see what you're saying. If Calgary is in the playoff mix, do you trade or keep Hanifin? Especially after losing Gaudreau for nothing. That's a tough spot to be in. 🤔
