If Treliving came to Detroit

Created by: North_Kariya
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 21, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Was having this thought the past few days that what Treliving did in Toronto really matched the goals that Detroit had going into the offseason. Here's what could have been, if Detroit made the same moves that Toronto made. Also, this still assumes Debrincat and Petry trades goes through since it seemed like a forlorn conclusion that they would end up in Detroit.

Resigning Bert gives a top 6 winger who can play with a bit of grit. Domi offers something similar, albeit as a middle 6 forward. Klingberg is our right shot offensive Dman who makes Holl and Ghost unnecessary. Jones is arguably better than Reimer. And Reaves gives us the muscle so we don't get ****ed around with as much. This also opens up more roster space for prospects to get opportunities to play.

You’re forgetting that the players still get to choose where they go in free agency and unless you’re a Michigan kid or get significantly overpaid most guys aren’t choosing Detroit right now.
palhal and SydBarrett liked this.

If $$$$ was important to Bertuzzi and Domi, the Wings could have paid them.
Martin Jones isn't going to be a Leaf unless their are injuries to Samsonov or Woll.
I don't think the Red Wing signings were bad at a all...well except for Holl. IMO his skating has really deteriorated so 3.4m is too much and three years is way too long

Gotta Bertuzzi thinks he's going to play with either Matthews or Tavares, and his production will go up which will lead to big contract next summer. Somewhat the same with Domi and Klingberg.

its just a hypothetical situation. The question is does this team have better chances, both now and for future growth, than what they currently have.

Also as a lot seem to think Domi is a middle six player , I really do not understand why he gets a bad rep. He had 56 points last season and is a good playmaker. Play him with either 1st or 2nd line and I don't see why he wouldn't hit 70 to 80 . Same with Bertuzzi , so it could be very interesting but as a Leaf fan our defense still scares me and I have no idea why they signed Klingberg.

That’s what I mean those guys are set up to have good years personally and have a chance to win on a good team which is something Detroit can’t offer yet nor do they have the stars to help guys put up career numbers if they come there

the only reason would be bc Knies will prob get top 6 reps and if Matthews likes playing w Jarnkrok as the rumours have said... Domi ends up somewhere in the bottom 6

True it's a nice problem to have for once. Too bad I don't feel as good about the defense.
