Description
IMHO, this would be an optimal deployment of the team if they sign (as there are some rumors) Motte. Line by line assessment: 4th line would cause a lot of problems for opponents; 3rd line could be potential match-up line with a lot of offensive firepower; 2nd line could capitalize on Wheeler's experience to unlock Laf and propel Chytil even further; 1st line would be a problem for opponents to deal with and could be the blueprint in unlocking Panarin's potential in the playoffs. Defensively, you know what you are getting with last year's top 4 pairings. Experiment during the season to see if you can create an offensive monster pairing with Fox and Miller. Give Jones a lot of ice time for his development. As far as the power play, I would try and give both units equal playin time early in the season to unlock the potential and build confidence in each unit in time for the playoffs. The mantra this year needs to be, make the playoffs but don't worry about seeding position. Focus on peaking right at playoff time.

I wouldn’t say it’s playoffs or bust. More like cup or bust

But those lines do look good, hopefully Laffy, Kakko and chytil take a big step forward

I do not hope, I trusted this team too many times and got burned. I would say they have too prove they are worth hoping for, first.

I said no playoffs last year (obviously I was wrong) but I'm going to say no playoffs this year. (Obviously if Laffy and Kakko are what they where drafted to be this year cup is a possibility, otherwise I say no chance).

It's not cup or bust. The window is realistically just opening, it was only "cup or bust" last year because we were able to get Kane and Tarasenko without giving up much but the only "bust" part was the embarrassment of the exit. We're still in fine condition because the rebuild is still going on.

Well unfortunately as much as I'd love to keep Igor I think we as Rangers fans have to get used to the possibility that he might just leave. He doesn't give me the vibe of being all about NY like Hank was, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he walks. Whether that's for money related reasons or he's sick of being let down by this group and wants to actually win a Cup. And I can't say that I'd blame him

I fully agree. Every time you make it to the playoffs that should be the goal, I don't buy into the bs that NJ fans subscribe to of being proud of winning 5 games and calling it a day. However I don't think it's the end of the world if we don't get one with the core of Kreider, Zibanejad, Panarin, because we have a lot of good youth who will be on the team by the time the vets are gone. Like we aren't at risk of being poverty again anytime soon
